Lens Care
To store contact lenses, there are often solutions that offer a case as well as a disinfection and preservation solution. This often involves placing the lens in the case filled with this solution.
While disposable lenses do not require cleaning, other types require regular cleaning and disinfection in order to maintain clear vision and avoid discomfort and infections by various microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and Acanthamoeba, which form a biofilm on the surface of the lens.
Il existe un certain nombre de produits qui peuvent être utilisés pour réaliser ces tâches :
- Multi-Purpose Solution – The most widespread and popular cleaning solution for contact lenses. Used for rinsing, disinfecting, cleaning and storing lenses. Using this product eliminates the need for protein removing enzyme tablets in most cases.
- Saline solution – Used for rinsing lenses after cleaning and preparing them for insertion. Saline solutions do not disinfect lenses.
- Hydrogen peroxide solution – used for disinfecting lenses, and available in “two-step” or “one-step”.
- Enzymatic Cleaner – Used for cleaning protein deposits from lenses, most often weekly, if daily cleaning is not sufficient.
