This is a pathology of the retina due to the presence of liquid under the neuro-retina which will lift it and cause a drop in vision.
This pathology affects young subjects (between 25 and 45 years old), anxious people who complain of a unilateral decrease in acuity with metamorphopsia (undulation, deformation of lines and images seen). It affects men more frequently than women. There is also a decrease in the perception of contrasts with impairment of color vision.
At the FO we find a macular lifting, a more or less extensive bubble. Angiography is an essential examination, which allows to see and evaluate this bubble, as well as OCT for monitoring.
The evolution is most often towards spontaneous healing with a possible recurrence.
In some cases, it will be necessary to perform photocoagulation with an Argon laser to close the leak.
The ophthalmologist will decide whether or not to undergo surgical treatment based on additional examinations.
