Indications
The goal of the surgery is to allow patients with myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or presbyopia to do without correction – glasses or contact lenses – permanently.
The LASIK procedure is indicated in the following cases:
– Myopia less than 12 diopters *
– Hyperopia less than 6 diopters *
– Astigmatism less than 6 diopters *
– Myopia or refractive abnormality must be stabilized
– Age over 20 years.
The exact choice of the LASIK procedure is up to the surgeon, based on your case.
*: Please note that this refers to diopters, not tenths of visual acuity.
What is the difference between visual acuity in tenths and correction in diopters?
Visual acuity is measured without correction. With correction, it is expressed in tenths or other international units.
The visual correction is expressed in diopters, which is the number of diopters needed to best correct your vision and thus give you your best acuity: usually 10/10, sometimes less, rarely more.
The pre-operative exam called "eligibility" exam.
Pre-operative exams may vary from one surgeon to another.
In general, the procedure followed by the majority of specialists is...
- A complete preoperative exam, which includes the precise measurement of visual acuity as well as the evaluation of the dioptric correction to be made under cycloplegia (eye drops that dilate the pupil and temporarily block accommodation, which could otherwise distort this evaluation).
- Examination with a slit lamp, measurement of intraocular pressure, and fundus examination (FO).
- Corneal topography associated with pachymetry (measurement of corneal thickness – painless examinations).
This consultation lasts approximately 1 hour and ensures eligibility for LASIK.
Please come without contact lenses for 48 hours, bringing your glasses and contact lens prescriptions.
At the end of the consultation, the patient will receive an estimate for their insurance, an informational brochure, and usage recommendations.
The cost of a preoperative consultation, as most practitioners charge, is €100. This is not reimbursed by Social Security, but may be reimbursed by mutual insurance companies depending on the terms of your contract. You will be provided with an invoice.
The cost of the surgery
Our prices are carefully determined and tailored to the individual case and the method used:
– Femtosecond Laser:
We practice FemtoLasik, a cutting-edge technique that uses two lasers to ensure precision and efficiency. The femtosecond laser is used to cut the flap, while the excimer laser corrects the visual defect by performing a photo-ablation:
Starting at 1,400 euros per eye.
It is particularly recommended in a number of cases:
Corneas with specific shapes and dimensions detected during the preliminary examination,
Patients who, influenced by strong marketing pressure, expressly request it.
Finally, some patients themselves, due to the panic caused by the prospect of any intervention, especially on the eyes, are reassured by the additional financial cost, thinking, "I pay more, so it must be better."
The financial supplement they agree to can serve as a form of expiatory offering, meant to ensure a successful operation, or more simply, as a way to transfer bodily anxiety to a financial concern, which is easier to manage.
– PKR:
From 900 eurosby eyebut it is practically no longer performed at our center in favor of the much more modern trans PKR.
– TransPKR :
From 1,100 eurosper eyewith SmartPulse option on the Amaris 1050 RS laser
Our center's specialty TRANS PKR is the only surgery without cutting or contact with the patient's eye. It's the safest technique par excellence, given that, as a matter of principle, there's no such thing as zero risk in surgery.

These prices may vary depending on the surgeon and in specific situations, such as presby-LASIK, special patient requirements, or more complicated procedures, particularly due to corneal sequelae or when revising other previously performed surgeries (Radial Keratotomy, etc.).
Additional charge for personalized treatment: 100€ per eye.
The type of treatment recommended by the surgeon will depend on the patient's visual defect. It also depends on the corneal topography exams that will be performed during the pre-operative visit.
The fees will be provided in a quote given by your surgeon after the pre-operative consultation. They include surgical fees, the operating room fee to be paid directly at the clinic (by separate check), post-operative monitoring for 3 months, and touch-ups for 6 months.
Payment is due on the day of surgery. If necessary, payment options can be arranged with the center's administrative management and with your surgery's approval.
Reimbursement of refractive surgery by mutual insurance companies:
Given the success of these refractive surgery procedures, most health insurance companies now offer a sometimes significant co-payment. The reimbursement amount per eye varies based on numerous criteria. It also varies greatly depending on each health insurance company, ranging from just a few euros to several hundred euros for others. It's a good idea to check with your health insurance company about the terms and conditions for this surgery.

Post-operative monitoring
It's essential to ensure everything is going well. Patients are generally seen again on days 1 and 15, but this depends on the case and the operator.
