What is astigmatism?
In astigmatism, the curvature of the cornea is not the same in all axes: instead of being round like a football, the cornea is flattened like a rugby ball. This leads to distortion of images both at distance and near. Often, myopia and hyperopia are associated with a certain degree of astigmatism.
Correction of astigmatism
Astigmatism surgery is possible, whether it is isolated or associated with another optical defect. We can correct astigmatism up to 6 diopters, even when associated with other visual defects such as myopia, hyperopia, and presbyopia. The techniques of choice are again LASIK, Femtosecond laser, PKR, or Trans PKR.
Comme pour les autres défauts visuels, la correction au laser prendra de 20 à 30 secondes par œil, avec notre laser Schwind Amaris 1050, le plus rapide au monde.
